Equality – Gay Rights & BDSM

This is worth keeping even though it’s an old post:

I wanted to briefly address the victory NY has experienced with the vote that made same sex marriages possible for our city. This is yet another small step in the right direction. Eventually small steps turn into long strides and then – giant leaps. It is my hope that one day, the world at large will accept that loving a same sex partner is not wrong, that sex is not evil, that women aren’t inferior to men, that the color of the flesh doesn’t taint the blood and that freedom should be used as an instrument to promote peace, not terror.

Congratulations to all those who have put in the effort to make this a reality. Thank you to those with the power to effect change – whose hearts and minds were open to this small revolution; and thank you – even, to those who have just a political agenda but in secret believe this is a sin.

One day, I hope that BDSM can be accepted as an alternative lifestyle not subject to ridicule, judgment and misconceptions. I don’t mean taking the dominatrix out of the dungeon and advertising her on every corner. I only wish that some sort of education can be extended to the vanilla public so that before they react with hostility and disdain towards personal and professional BDSM, they can at least understand what it is that they are judging.

Oh, and a shout-out to the Westboro Baptist Church: Ram it up your ass Fred Phelps, you could use a little loosening up. And you probably won’t live to see it, since you’re about as old as God – but it’s comin’ your way!  Megan – you probably will live to see it, and the beauty in that is that it will probably kill you!
