Eve spanks Adam in Garden of Eden, first evidence of F/m domestic discipline

According to the Bible (according to the book Flagellation & The Flagellants) the History of the Rod originated with Eve in the Garden of Eden. Allegedly,  Rabbinical Biblical accounts confirm the “Mother of all Mankind,” was the first to apply the rod – here laying the foundation for Wives to correct their husbands.  The book is dense and I am not sure there exists within it an actual account of WHY Adam was punished by her – not a literal account anyway.   I can’t seem to find this on Google, but I think the author  (William M. Cooper) went to great lengths to make sure his facts were straight.  I’d trust it about as much as I’d trust anything else, take from that what you will.

Here is a little anecdote from the book.  It’s not my favorite thing, ever –but it’ll do:

Did not a certain Lady whip,

Of late her husband’s own Lordship?

And, through a Grandee of the House,

Clawed him with fundamental blows,

Tied him stark-naked to a bed-post

And firked his hide as if sh’ had rid post;

And after, in the Sessions Court,

Where whipping’s judged, had honuor for ‘t.

For the record, I prefer modern English.  Since this is not a literature class, and I’m not in the mood to do any particular dissecting – you’re going to have to figure it out on your own.   I do very much relish in the line, “Clawed him with fundamental blows.”

Here is a little pic from the book regarding domestic discipline and the Birch-Rod

    I have not seen any reference to Eve using a rod on Adam. So much for rumor.
