Proof that the IGNORANCE has gone too far: Fifty Shades of Grey & child pornography

I have too many gripes with Fifty Shades of Grey to list them all at the present moment. The book’s overwhelming flaws disgrace the actual BDSM community – both in its professional and personal capacity.

I am choosing to focus my blog topic today on an urgent issue that perfectly exemplifies all that is wrong with the acclaim afforded to this title by people who have absolutely no understanding of what BDSM actually is. Having read the book (begrudgingly with the sole purpose to review it) – I found that it was completely non-palatable on every conceivable level from the grammatical destruction of the English language to completely fantastical and erroneous concepts of dominance and submission to the utter disregard for the scared laws of “safe, sane and consensual” kink practices.

But this is all really for another time and place. My faults with the book and the absolutely ludicrous attention it has received have largely been addressed by other professionals in the industry – those of us who have been involved in the scene before Wikipedia was around to tell us what it was.

Here I’d like to touch upon something that I do not think has been addressed, at least not in the manner in which I will be presenting it. Eager to jump on the Fifty Shades bandwagon – some extremely ignorant article writer (in a magazine dedicated to the Making of the movie) enthusiastically lists a dozen or so books that are seemingly relatable to BDSM and particularly to Fifty Shades of Grey.

In large print, the top of the page reads: If you love fifty shades of grey, you’ll love…

The 120 Days of Sodom, by Marquis de Sade. (1785)

The only thing the author got right here was perhaps the chronology, as he or she lists the supposedly relevant titles in historically ascending order.

What is completely disturbing and unfathomable is the fact that this book is mentioned as a title “any self-respecting S&M fiction fan” would have on his or her bookshelf.

This is where things get convoluted and why I have this desperate need for people to bother to know what they are talking about when referencing BDSM. The article claims we should love this book because… well, actually, I have no idea.  I don’t think the author does, either – because clearly he or she did not do their research. Why bother to do research and preserve the integrity of a legitimate institution when your carelessness and desperation to join the club and share in the monstrous profits can inadvertently suggest that if we love Fifty Shades of Grey (which I do not) or S&M (which I do) – then we must also love:

The kidnapping, torture and brutal rape and murder of CHILDREN and the extreme degradation/ subjugation of women by wealthy men in positions of boundless, unchallenged power.

You can read the magazine excerpt for yourself and what the hopefully unwitting author has to say about it. The 120 Days of Sodom has no place in BDSM other than perhaps employing a bit of historical significance. I have read the book to insure that my facts are accurate – because unlike the author of this article, I’d rather not make an ass of myself. Here is the exact wording:

50-shades-blog

But I am more than outraged at this gross assumption, intentional or not – that this book should be revered by anybody interested in “safe, sane and consensual” erotic play. The 120 days of Sodom has offended my senses to the point of outrage, disgust and literal horror.

Let me remedy for you what the article disguises or neglects.

The 120 days of Sodom is essentially about four elite, self-evidently disgusting and depraved, extremely wealthy men who decide to sexually amuse themselves at the expense of several adult women and at least sixteen children between the ages of 12 and 17 that they forcibly kidnap from their families, schools or monasteries. These men torture these children that are repeatedly referred to as “little girls” and “little boys” by physically, mentally and sexually committing all sorts of indecencies against them. Two of the victims are the daughters of these “heroes” – and they are forced into incestuous and brutal affairs.

At first the children are beaten; eventually they are maimed and dismembered – a small child has an eye removed or a limb amputated as one of these men ejaculates on him or her. A pregnant woman is smashed in the stomach with a blunt object until her fetus is abruptly aborted. These child slaves are forced to urinate and defecate in the mouths of these rich, powerful men and oftentimes they receive reciprocal treatment.

This book is so deplorable in its very nature that I feel a little less human having read it. I was unable to stomach it in its entirety but I have enough evidence from excerpts that will prove my point. I will relate a few of them here only so that you will see that I do not exaggerate, and so that you can understand my horror and fury at the presentation of this article and the connection it has made to actual BDSM and the author’s horrid misconception of BDSM. What I have included is minor. The book is very explicit in regards to criminal acts that underage, non-consenting children were forced to perform and endure for 120 consecutive days until their eventual demises. I won’t go into further detail because it is literally beyond your wildest imagination and I don’t want to be responsible for any further corruption that will leave you with the stuff of nightmares.

The frightening parallel between Fifty Shades of Grey and The 120 Days of Sodom is that both books employ male characters that are: phenomenally rich, dominant and occupy positions of power – thus enabling them to manipulate situations to their whims… whether it’s paying a thug to kidnap and enslave a child to him or whether it’s buying a half-adult girl a new car so she can enslave her own self to him and truly believe it’s her choice.

A NOTE ABOUT THE MAGAZIINE, Anonymous and THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM

This magazine is from the editors of Film Fantasy and LIFE STORY which generally produce material targeted for teens covering bands such as One Direction and Films such as Twilight and Harry Potter series. This makes the publishing of this magazine even more absurd and dangerous, as this has no place on shelves that can be accessed by minors. It is produced by Bauer Publishing, who markets publications such as LIFE STORY to attract teens. From their own website – http://www.bauerpublishing.com:

“Our titles connect with a nationwide audience of readers across several diverse editorial segments: celebrity/entertainment (In Touch, Life&Style, Closer), women’s (Woman’s World, Celebrate, First for Women, Soaps in Depth), tweens and teens (M, Twist, J-14, Girls’ World, QuizFest, Astrogirl, Life Story, Animal Tales) and science and technology (iD – Ideas & Discoveries).”

Is this really what we want to be marketing to our own little girls and boys?

The timing is befiting since just this past Friday, cyber hactivist group Anonymous took action against a ring of elite pedophiles in the UK #OpDeathEaters: Anonymous & Westminster Child Sex Ring

Here are some extremely tame examples of aforementioned atrocities present in The 120 Days of Sodom. Warning – GRAPHIC, read at your own risk:

“The Bishop, one of whose greatest uncomplex pleasures was to suck little boys’ pricks.” Pg .259

“Don’t disturb me, don’t disturb me,” the Duc shouted. “I’m fucking my daughter, I’m pretending she’s dead.” Pg. 293

“Augustine, Fanny, and Zelmire: these three charming little creatures, aged between fourteen and fifteen, all discharged in response to the lightest touch; Hebe and Michette, each being only twelve, were hardly worth considering, and so it was simply a question of experimenting with Sophie, Colombe, and Rosette, the first of whom was fourteen, the latter two being thirteen years old.” Pg.299

“The Duc depucelates Rosette in the rear that evening, and the same instant his prick sounds her ass, Curval extracts one of the little girl’s teeth – this in order that she may experience two terrible pains at the same time.” Pg. 340

“He wishes to depucelate three girls in succession, one the cradle; one at the age of five, the other at seven.” Pg.308

“He’ll not depeculate anyone who is not between nine years old and thirteen. His prick is enormous; four women are needed to hold the virgin.” Pg. 309

“He very tidily castrates a young lad of sixteen or seventeen after having embuggered and whipped him.” Pg. 343

It is one thing for an ignorant writer with no working knowledge of BDSM to attempt to write erotic fiction of that nature. It’s another thing for a professional magazine with widesale distribution that prides itself as a best-selling publication to market Fifty Shades of Grey in a way that might appeal to a teen audience. This is especially criminal when the contents of the magazine suggest and possibly even  encourage one to seek out the origins of 120 Days of Sodom (as no respecting S&M fiction fan, adult or tween, can do without it) – where child rape, brutal torture and heinous murder abound. I’m sure the Westminster elites had their own prized copies.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE. RESPONSIBILITY IN PUBLISHING IS A NECESSITY NOT A LUXURY.

(And for the record, Bauer publishing – “safe, sane and consensual” is #BlackAndWhiteNOTGrey)

As I commented to my friend when I shared this link, “Angel is eloquent and lovely as ever, and now I hate everything.”

    • AngelSpanked says:

Do you care to explain what you mean by “hating everything?”

      • ZQueenston says:

Just that by reading such total incompetence and lack of knowledge or respect for the BDSM community, and marketed to teenagers no less, I lose a little faith in humanity… Sorry for the hyperbole, lol.

        • AngelSpanked says:

I understand. I’m sorry if I bummed you out, but it was necessary. If you could help spread the info, I’d appreciate it. It’s actually the duty of any decent human being who comes across this to share it. This needs to be #ShutDown. It’s really pretty terrifying that at least half a billion people have fallen victim to the plague that is Fifty Shades of Grey. I don’t mean to judge anybody for their taste (no matter how bad it is, lol) but this book “phenomenon” has really struck a nerve. I’m going to go research how to be dumb because I might be more lucky that way. My trilogy is in the works and almost done but I think I used too many big words and for that reason alone, my audience may not be as big nor as wide as I’d like 😛

          • ZQueenston says:

Well, my blog hasn’t got any readership but I’ll post a link here, anyway. 🙂

But yeah, I agree. The 50 Shades ‘phenomenon’ disgusted me from the start and it’s especially worrying to see it marketed at such a young demographic now. It was bad enough when they were labelling it ‘mommy porn’… And now obviously clueless people are doing really effective jobs at spreading around abuse and calling it smut.

I’m going to create a link for you and post it as soon as I can. I tweeted you a shoutout – so we’ll start generating you some traffic 🙂 Let’s use it to run over Fifty Shades of Grey, lol! 🙂

          • ZQueenston says:

Oh goodness. I’ve been studiously avoiding twitter for ages… But I just made one! Hope you’re happy. 😉

          • AngelSpanked says:

lol well you didn’t have to sign up if you didn’t want to silly! But now that you did, what’s your handle so I can follow you? 😉

          • ZQueenston says:

            @ZQueenston 🙂
